Decimal
Stake multiplied by the price: 10 x 1.90 returns 19, stake included.
Fractional
Profit against stake — the classic Australian format on the race track.
Moneyline
American split: negative prices show the stake needed for a 100 profit.
Odds are how a bookmaker prices a result: they carry the implied chance of an event and the return if it lands. The same match can be quoted in three notations, and reading them at a glance is the first skill of any Australian bettor.
Decimal odds (1.90, 2.50) multiply your stake directly. Fractional odds (4/10, 2/1) show profit against stake and remain common in Australian racing and live markets. Moneyline odds (+150, -200) are the American split seen in North American basketball and tennis. Convert before you compare: 1.90, 4/10 and -190 are the same price.
